Founded in 1963, Shanghai Chemical Industry Design Institute (SCIDI) now is a holding subsidiary of HQCEC. It has obtained a variety of certificates, such as Class A Engineering Design Certificate (Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical and Architecture) issued by Ministry of Construction, Class I, II, III Pressure Vessels Design Certificate and Pressure Piping Design Certificate issued by State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and GB/T19001-2000-ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Certificate etc.
It has already had the capabilities of independently undertaking large and medium-scaled projects both at home and aboard. It can provide both the EPC/EPCM service and individual service ranging from consultation service, project management, engineering, procurement, construction supervision, security and quality control, cost control, progress control and or individual service.
Consisting of 15 departments, namely, business department, project management department, QA/QC department, procurement & construction management department, human resources department, finance department, process piping division, environmental protection division, civil division, equipment division and utility division etc. Shanghai Chemical Industry Design Institute has about 20 disciplines like process, piping, equipment, general plot plan, architecture, structure, water supply and drainage, electrical, telecommunication, pyrology, automation, heating & ventilating, environmental protection, and budgetary estimate etc. Moreover, the company also has a strong technical team. There are about 400 staff members among which 358 personnel are technicians, including 5 professor class engineers, 77 senior engineers, 118 engineers, 5 A-level registered architects, 11 A-level registered structure engineers, 11 registered cost engineers and 2 registered consulting engineers.
Since Shanghai Chemical Industry Design Institute is founded, it has completed more than 2000 projects concerning oil & gas storage and transportation, inorganic chemical, petrochemical, organic chemistry, synthetic material & processing, fine chemistry, engineering plastic, rubber, logistics storage, chemical raw medicine, biological medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, preparation medicine, environmental protection, civil architecture and many other disciplines.
Since 1980s, SCIDI has won more than seventy prizes in acknowledgement of Science & Technology Progress and Excellent Engineering Design by the State, Ministries, Provincial and Municipal governments. In addition, it has also possessed 5 national patents and 2 patent technologies. SCIDI closely cooperated with some world famous corporations. As for the EPC projects it has undertaken for DIC and Crompton, SCIDI adopted a project management model compatible with international engineering corporations. The quality, progress, cost, and material control of the projects all reached the project operating goals, winning the commendation of the clients. It also provides all kinds of satisfactory services for many world famous corporations such as BASF, Bayer, ICI, Elf Atochem, Chevron, Dupont, Schering Plough, Cabot, Praxair, BOC, Ajinomoto, Rohm & Haas, DIC and Crompton etc.
In addition, SCIDI has also set up a good cooperative relationship and cooperative prospect with the international top class engineering companies, such as Flour, Bechtel, Kvaerner E&C and Technip-coflexip, which has laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of SCIDI.
